Songs from the storytelling concert Lalaei
The songs on this record were created for the music & theatre show Lalaei. This storytelling concert combined music with a grim story, inspired by Ovid’s Metamorphoses, performed and written by British writer and storyteller Marie Phillips. The show premiered in Brussels in 2022. The story written by Marie Phillips is included in the artwork of this LP.
All the songs on this record are old folk lullabies from the Middle East, which have been sung by many generations through time in Persian, Kurdish, Mazandarani, Bakhtiari, Qashqai, Turkish and Hebrew.
Music composed, recomposed or arranged by Zwerm.
The melody from Mo ke az paki delom is based on Ataolah Jangooks work Golom Ey.
Thanks to Hosein Alizadeh for his inspiring collection Birthplace of Earth.
